If you’re someone who loves classic style à la Audrey Hepburn or famous Brit Charlotte Rampling, London Fog is definitely your cup of tea. Known for their timeless trench coats since the 1920’s, they’ve also redefined luxurious and timeless travel with their beautiful luggage.

Who is London Fog?

Many of their luggage pieces are covered in their iconic houndstooth fabric, giving it a sense of British sophistication. If you’re looking for luggage that will stand the test of time, no matter the trends, London Fog is a solid choice.

Named after the exclusive area of London for the rich and famous, the Kensington 21-inch Carry-On, is classic with an eclectic edge. The blue and tan plaid fabric would look right at home on the streets of London. The pattern also stands out for quick spotting.

CLASSIC DETAILS

Brown leather-like detailing on the zippers, handles, and wheels, keep it looking sharp. While the gold-toned zipper and retractable handle with button, add a touch of bling. Handles on the top, bottom, and sides, are a welcome addition.

CARRY-ON SIZE, BUT EXPANDABLE

It measures 21 x 14 x 10 inches, which keep it in the carry-on category. The expandable zipper, allows you to increase the storage capacity by two inches. You will have to check-in your bag once you expand it, but I find that I need the extra storage on some trips. It’s great to have the option to expand the bag if I want to.

SPINNER WHEELS

For easy maneuvering, it comes with four spinner wheels which will roll in all directions. I can use one hand for my latte and the other to effortlessly wheel my luggage.

On the front, it has two pockets for keeping items within reach. Inside it has a good mix of storage items. There’s a place to keep shoes as well as other small items, inside the luggage lid. I don’t usually see a shoe compartment in most luggage, so I appreciate this interesting addition.

SUMMARY

Overall, I found the Kensington carry-on well-padded outside and structured. The color is unique and typically British and eclectic. Like all London Fog luggage, I love that it comes with a 10-year warranty.

London Fog Luggage Chelsea 21-Inch Suitcase

Known for its stylish residents and bohemian past of the swinging 60’s, this suitcase is named after the famous “Chelsea” neighborhood in West London. This suitcase stays true to the roots of England, but with modern features.

CLASSIC DETAILS

The fabric has a classic black and brown houndstooth design. To stay in line with the classic colors, the zippers, wheels, and handles are finished in a toffee color. For a touch of class, the hardware is gold toned.

EXPANDABLE CARRY-ON

The suitcase itself measures 23 x 15 x 10 inches, including the wheels, and will fit in the overhead compartment of most domestic flights.  However, if you want something a little bigger, look no further because this also expands by 30% with the expandable zipper. I find it very useful when traveling because I can fit more sweaters or shoes, depending on where I travel.

EXTRA STORAGE

Compared to other suitcases this size, it has many storage compartments. On the front, you have 2 compartments, one zippered and one that closes with a snap. On the back, there is an address window and a flat zippered pocket. Inside the luggage lid, there are pockets for shoes and a “suiter clip” to hang a jacket or a special item of clothing from a clothes hanger. It also comes with 2 sturdy plastic bags to keep toiletries and shampoos.

SPINNER WHEELS

Rolling the suitcase feels very smooth and the four spinner-wheels do a great job of rolling over carpet or hard floors. It weighs only 6 pounds, which makes carrying or rolling it, very easy.

The top, bottom, and sides have convenient handles to grab the suitcase by. A push-button releases the retractable handle and it can be set to two heights.

In terms of ruggedness, the London Fog Chelsea spinner is well protected. It has an EVA foam-padded front and sides, so your belongings will not have direct contact with anything outside. The fabric is made of a durable woven fabric. Bumper guards and a kick plate, keep the corners safe from damage.

SUMMARY

Overall, I think this piece is perfect for someone who likes classic and luxurious style. Although classic, the pattern remains uncommon in luggage, so it will stand out from the sea of luggage at the airport without looking gaudy.

Another suitcase in their London-inspired designs is the Knightsbridge Hyperlights Spinner, named after the upscale Knightsbridge neighborhood in London. I mean, have you been to Harrods or Harvey Nichols in Knightsbridge? They’re simply the best places to window shop or drop some serious cash in London.

LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN

As the name “hyper lights” suggests, this suitcase is incredibly light. It is only 6 pounds and measures 21 x 14 x 12 inches and qualifies as a carry-on.

CLASSIC FABRIC

If you want something classic, but not in a houndstooth pattern, this grey and navy plaid is a good choice. It still looks classic and timeless. Like most of London Fog’s designs, they are unisex and can be used by either men or women.

EXPANDABLE

To expand the suitcase, it features an expandable zipper which adds about two inches to the width. I can’t buy luggage without this versatile feature.

The top, sides, and bottom have a convenient handle for grabbing the suitcase from multiple angles. On the front, you have one full-sized pocket, which is lined with EVA foam.

SUMMARY

Overall, it’s a lovely little bag. It has clean lines and is a modern interpretation of classic styles. If the plaid is not exactly what you’re looking for, the Knightsbridge suitcase also comes in a warm chocolate color and also a deep blue color.

SPACIOUS DESIGN

Perfect for 3 or 4 days, this bag has exceptional storage. It measures 23 x 4 x 44 inches, which is slightly larger in volume than a carry-on luggage. The spacious design allows you to keep your outfits in their hangers. Once at your destination, the garment bag can be hung in the closet, by using its dual hanging hooks.

On the front, there is one large zippered pocket for storage. Along the top and bottom, there are handles for easy grabbing. Hidden beneath a zippable compartment, the retractable handle extends and allows you to roll the bag when traveling. To roll, the suitcase features two inline skate wheels that feel durable and smooth. Personally, I would have liked 360-degree spinner wheels, but it’s only a minor criticism.

CLEVER FOLDING DESIGN

The design cleverly expands when opened. Full-length outfits suddenly appear, like a pop-up book reveals itself when turning a page. Once the garment bag is fully opened, it is divided into storage on the left and the right, like the open pages of a book.

EFFICIENT STORAGE

On the left, your clothes hang from your hangers, which are kept in place with a bracket. Two zippered mesh pockets sit right above the hangers, using the space efficiently. There are also shoe pockets to keep your shoes in place.

On the right-hand side, there are three zippered mesh pockets. They’re great for storing flat items like single shirts or sweaters. There is also a frosted plastic compartment, which opens with a zipper. You can keep toiletries or other small items here.

SUMMARY

Garment bags are such a nifty idea. They’re perfect for short trips where you need your clothes to remain pressed and wrinkle-free. This one, in particular, has plenty of pockets to keep everything organized and secure. I highly recommend this one if you travel on business, cruises, or quick trips.

The London Fog weekender satchel is the perfect bag for weekend trips or as an extra bag to bring along with a carry-on suitcase. Covered in a classic houndstooth fabric and detailed with brown leather-like details, it exudes timeless style.

STACKABLE DESIGN

Dual-carry handles, make it easy to hold when using. When used with a carry-on luggage, it can be stacked by using the “piggy-back” strap on the back. Just place the strap over your carry-on’s retractable handles and the satchel will remain secure.

LIGHTWEIGHT

As you would expect, it is very lightweight, weighing only 2 pounds. It measures 16 x 10 x 9 inches and would be considered a carry-on piece of luggage by airlines standards. I found that it was roomier than I expected. I was able to pack for a four-day trip quite easily.

A little larger than the previous bag, the London Fog cabin bag from the Kensington range, is understated and elegant. The bronze color is beautiful, but it also comes in a blue and tan plaid fabric.

SPACIOUS

Measuring 17 x 9 x 11 inches, it’s a great size for weekend trips or for use with a carry-on suitcase for longer travel. The interior is fully lined and holds a few days of clothing, including a pair of shoes. A small zipped pocket is sewn into the side and is useful to keep a phone charger or earplugs.

Outside, there is one medium-sized compartment, which is accessible with a gold-toned zipper. Pockets on the sides are great for holding plane tickets, snacks, or a book.

Dual handles allow you to carry it easily, or alternatively, it can be stacked on top of a carry-on luggage for hands-free travel.

SUMMARY

For the price, it’s quite a luxurious satchel. It isn’t too large and bulky, but holds a few days worth of outfits.

CREATE YOUR OWN LUGGAGE SET

Sometimes a luggage set offers too many or too few suitcase options. You might be a light traveler and only need a carry-on suitcase and a satchel. Or, you prefer a 4-piece luggage set for that big trip you’re taking this year.

In this situation, I recommend you buy luggage pieces separately and create your own custom luggage set.  It’s a win-win situation and you get exactly what you need without spending more than you have to. It’s still surprisingly cost-effective.

Two handles are secured on either side of the main zipper with silver hardware. Holding both together feels comfortable and secure.

The London Fog Knightsbridge 25-inch luggage, is the next size up from the carry-on. It’s the same as the carry-on in every way, except it measures 25 x 17 x 11 inches. It expands by two inches, has split-compartment storage inside the lid, spinner wheels, a large pocket outside, and multiple grab-handles on the exterior.

This is the luggage size I use the most when traveling for at least a week. My husband also loves it, because the pattern is not definitely feminine or masculine.

The largest luggage in the Knightsbridge range, this 29-inch upright spinner gives you tons of storage in a lightweight design. It measures 29 x 19 x 14 inches and weighs eight pounds. This bag expands by two inches if needed and has an EVA foam padded front. It’s similar in design to the 21-inch and 25-inch suitcases in every way, aside from the obvious storage increase.

On some vacations, I like to share a 29-inch suitcase like this with my husband. It holds everything we need and we only need to bring one suitcase for the both of us.

Keep your laptop within reach, with this gorgeous rolling computer bag. The London Fog Chelsea Computer bag offers endless storage and convenience with an extendable handle and in-line skate wheels. It can also be used as an overnight bag or travel tote, if you don’t need to travel with a laptop.

The computer bag measures 17 x 14 x 8.5 inches and weighs 7 lbs. When the retractable handle is not in use it can be hidden away beneath a zipped pocket. It has two in-line skate wheels, for easy rolling. To balance the bag when it’s not in motion, there is a stability bar beneath the bag, which keeps it from tilting forward.

Inside are three compartments, which have their own zipper. One compartment can hold a few layers of clothing and features an elastic strap to secure them. In the center compartment, you can store a laptop in the accompanying protective sleeve. There are many slots to keep cards and also a pouch to keep pens. The third compartment is the smallest and is on the front of the bag.

Probably my favorite in the Chelsea luggage range, the wheeled club bag is an easy bag to take with you anywhere. I find it more casual than a suitcase, while still looking effortless and elegant. It is considered a carry-on size, if you choose to use it as your boarding bag.

It measures 20 x 11 x 10 inches and weighs 5 lbs. The bottom is lined with a moisture-resistant PVC material, that keeps it dry.

To use, pull out the retractable handle and then roll it on its two in-line skate wheels. I wouldn’t sprint with this bag, because of the square-ish shape, but it’s fine to roll when you’re walking around the airport or hotel.

Inside is quite roomy and you can easily fit a few days worth of clothing or even longer if you pack light.

Known as a suiter suitcase, the London Fog Chelsea 21-inch Carry on, is a clothes obsessive’s best friend. It has a built-in “suiter clip” which will keep hanging garments secure when the suitcase is closed.

Most domestic airlines consider this suitcase to meet their carry-on requirements. The measurements are 21 x 14 x 8 inches and it weighs 9 lbs. Compared to other carry-ons I’ve tested, this one is slightly wider. It just about fit the overhead compartment, so just be aware when packing it.

Four spinner wheels keep this luggage rolling in any direction. The aluminum handle retracts with a push-button and locks into place when extended. The top, side, and bottom, feature convenient handles. The front and rear have pockets to keep a few small items, such as boarding passes and magazines.

It feels well-protected thanks to the EVA foam padded front and sides. There are also heavy duty protective corners, to help absorb sudden impacts.

The London Fog Chelsea spinner also expands by 30% by unzipping the expandable zipper. I can always use a little extra space when coming back from my travel destination.

Inside features a large mesh compartment within the lid and a pocket for shoes inside the main storage area. It also comes with a nice removable plastic bag for toiletries, which is a nice bonus.

Gaining a few more inches in size, the Chelsea 25-inch spinner bag from London Fog is the perfect mid-sized luggage. It’s a mirror image of the 21-inch carry-on I just discussed, but with added storage.

It measures 25 x 17 x 9 inches and weighs 11 lbs. Just like the previous carry-on, it features four spinner wheels that rotate 360 degrees, for easy maneuvering. It has top, side, and bottom grab handles for easy loading and unloading from your car or the airport’s luggage carousel. An expandable zipper makes this suitcase grow by 30%.

The nice thing about this suiter range, is that you can hang a few garments from the “suiter clip” inside and it doubles as a garment bag. Pretty genius if you ask me.

London Fog Luggage Chelsea 29-Inch Upright Suiter

An excellent value for money, the 29-inch upright suiter from London Fog is very spacious. It measures 29 x 19 x 10 inches and weighs 12 pounds, which is actually quite light for a bag of this size.

Outside features the same thoughtful features as the 21-inch carry-on and the 25-inch spinner bag I described above. It has four spinner wheels, which rotate 360 degrees and make gliding the suitcase easy.

As big as this suitcase already is, you can expand it by two inches with the expandable zipper. Whether or not you decide to expand the suitcase’s size, make sure to pack heavier items at the bottom. When the suitcase is upright, the weight will be distributed better and it won’t have a risk of tipping over if it’s top heavy. It’s just common sense really, but it’s easy to forget.

Summary

When it comes to luggage brands, London Fog fills the missing gap of classic British luggage styles. Most brands just don’t do styles or patterns the way London Fog does. Not only are they beautiful to look at, but the luggage is also well made and come with a 10-year warranty. These pieces are meant to last not only in style, but also in build.
