9 Lightweight Walking Shoes For Travel
Oh, summer vacations. I look forward to leaving it all behind, red wine in hand, and a cool breeze in my hair. I read all the guidebooks, buy a pretty dress (or three!), and I’m ready to go.
Except for the shoes. For years I got it wrong. I’d be on vacation walking my millionth mile, cursing myself for bringing such uncomfortable shoes. I think part of the reason I made poor choices was the simple act of finding comfy shoes in the first place. I love window-shopping online (I mean, who doesn’t?), but 5 hours later, I’m still undecided and end up wearing my ten-year-old Converse shoes instead. Not to mention, comfy shoes can be ugly, making my search seem even more complicated.
After trying out several pairs of walking shoes, I’ve found my favorite lightweight shoes for travel (or home!).
Read on for my favorite lightweight travel shoes that I’ve tested (and loved). Which ones do you like?

I found these to be super comfy and cute, without looking touristy. I wore them with dresses, jeans, and they seemed to go with everything.
The foam soles are featherlight, but durable. They run a little large, so I sized down a half size.
I wore them for a few days before my trip, to let the leather straps mold to my feet, and they were ready to go once I hit the streets of Paris.

If you are into more casual and minimal vibes, these are amazing sandals. They’re made from yoga material – yeah, I know, right – so you know it’s going to be chic, yet comfortable. They excel when you are relaxing, but are easily at home on walking tours or an impromptu dinner date.
I found the fabric straps supportive and they molded around my foot.
The color options are pretty amazing too, so there is something for everyone. They are so light, I took 2 pairs on one trip. A woman needs options.
My friend has wider feet and plantar fasciitis and she adored these. I can see this work wonderfully with pregnant women too.

If you like vegan-friendly shoes, these are great. I love how breathable and different these are. I wore them on the plane, so I could easily slip them off when I went through customs.
The rubber sole is sturdy, so I felt well supported. For longer trips, I might get an insole for my flat feet.
Skechers Women’s Cleo Wham Ballet Flat

A few years ago, I never considered wearing Skechers, but now they are a solid choice for lightweight comfort.
Flats are usually too flat for me, so I doubted these would work for me. Luckily, these have memory foam, so it felt like I was walking on air.
My feet swell in the evenings, but these stayed comfy all day. I went a half size up on these and they were perfect.

These brought me back to my college days, when I used to wear the Onitsuka Tiger version. They were cool, but too flat for my feet.
These, however, have memory foam and are very breathable thanks to the mesh fabric. I loved that they were slip-on and didn’t need lacing up at all. For the price, they were stylish, without looking too sporty and like I was going to the gym.

Trendy and fun, comes to mind when I think of these. I don’t usually go for pink, but these were the right balance of trendy, yet simple. There are so many colors, it was hard to pick one, to be honest.
They changed the look of my outfit, because of the pretty pink color. As well as looking good, they were lightweight and supportive for the walking tour I joined.
New Balance Women’s WA365v1 Walking Shoe

Not too sporty, but simple enough to wear with most of my outfits. The gray was neutral enough to wear with everything, but there were other color options too. The breathable fabric was great, after walking a few miles in the summer.

These are very Scandinavian-chic. They are unique and don’t look like any major shoe brand, which I liked. They have small details, that keep them from looking too plain. The chambray fabric was really pretty. I wore them with and without socks and they were comfortable both ways.
